Dear Patrons-

Spring has sprung and life is good!  We have completed our Idaho Standardize Achievement Tests (ISAT) and the outlook looks good!!  Remember that standardized tests are to help us measure areas of strength and weakness in the district.  We will then look at what we can do better and what approaches are working.

This year No Child Left Behind legislation increased the requirements for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).  From our preliminary results it looks like we will make AYP for the second consecutive year.  This is a huge accomplishment for our staff and students.  The requirements for AYP this year specify that we make a proficiency mark in three subject areas Math, Reading, and Language Usage.  The cut off scores are Math 88.7%, Reading 90.4%, and Language Usage 83.4%.  I will give you 3 of our class’s results by Subject:

3rd grade was 100% in Math, 100% in Reading and 91% in Language Usage. (97% 0verall!!)

5th grade was 100% in Math, 100% in Reading and 89% in Language Usage (96% Overall!!)

10th grade was 92.8% in Math, 96.4% in Reading and 92.8% in Language Usage (94% Overall!!)

These are very impressive numbers, and we want to congratulate the teachers and students that have worked so hard.

It is a fantastic time of year, and we are excited for the opportunity for our students to demonstrate what they have learned.  As spring arrives it becomes important for us to finish the school year strong, and to continue to develop the attributes of excellence in all that we do.

I appreciate all you do to support our staff and students.  It is a great time to be a Cowboy!!
